The Wii Sports game has the following sports simulated:
- Tennis
- Baseball
- Bowling
- Golf
- Boxing
Each of the above mentioned sports has Wii remote gestures which match the motion one uses for the specific sport. When a gamer plays tennis they must do the same motions as they would when playing tennis, including moving around. The same is true of the obxing sport where you must throw punches and move around the same as if you were boxing with a real opponent. This ability of the gamer to actually move around to play the games actually is the brilliance of the Nintendo Wii design since it allows the gamer to actually move around their bodies and get better fit while having fun. The tennis and boxing sports are the ones which provide the most activity for fitness purposes.
There are other games which take advantage of the Wii remote design and can also be used for fun fitness. The one game where the Wii shines is the just released Wii Fitness, which provides a remote specifically built for fitness activities which provide exercises for balance, strength, agility, and speed. The Wii Fitness provides feedback for all of its exercises to help the gamer to do better form and improve the exercise fitenss. This is excellent feedback, which can only be given with a trainer. The Wii Fitness also provides for competition to make the excerses fun in a way you would not get in a class or with a personal trainer.
The Nintendo Wii is the future of gaming and personal fitness and it is the first gaming console to provide.
